Street Fighter VI Becomes the Most Played Fighting Game on Steam

Street Fighter V, which was released in 2016, arguably left quite a negative impression in the eyes of fighting game fans. However, Capcom as the developer seems to have improved and learned to listen more to the fans, because the recently released Street Fighter VI immediately received a very positive response.

Not only getting a variety of positive reviews and high ratings, of course, Street Fighter VI also holds the title of the most busy fighting game played on Steam at the moment. Launching from the SteamDB page, the highest number of concurrent players reached 66,317 players when this article was written.

This number has increased by around 348% from Street Fighter V which only touched 14,783. In comparison to other popular wrestling games; NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat 11 has 35,147 players, followed by Bandai Namco’s Tekken 7 with 18,966 players.

Keep in mind, of course, that this number is only calculated based on players accessing Street Fighter VI on PC via Steam. So it is possible that there are differences in numbers from those who play on consoles. However, the number of players can still increase even more, especially this weekend.

An achievement that deserves thumbs up, of course, because the Street Fighter series itself is often overshadowed by the popularity of other action games in the last decade, such as Tekken for example. And speaking of Tekken, the eighth main series is also under development and has created hype for its fans. Of course, it will be interesting to see if Tekken 8 can get a moment similar to Street Fighter VI or even higher when it’s released later.

Street Fighter VI can be played on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
